The Seminar
The Advanced Cardiac CTA Workshop 2026 is organized by the Radiological Society of Northern Greece and will take place in Kozani on June 19 and 20, 2026. It is an intensive educational workshop focusing on the performance, optimization, and interpretation of cardiac computed tomography angiography (CTA) examinations, under the guidance of experienced teaching staff. Participants will have access to hundreds of cases, while the live sessions will focus on real-world, demanding scenarios such as obese patients and patients with high heart rates with a special emphasis on radiation dose management. The workshop is primarily aimed at radiologic technologists and CT technicians with a solid background in computed tomography. However, radiologists, cardiologists, residents, and medical physicists with an interest in cardiac CTA are also welcome to participate.

How to Get
How to Get to the Venue from Thessaloniki
- By Car: Drive approximately 120 km via the Egnatia Odos highway (A2) heading towards Siatista and Kozani. The journey takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Take the Kozani exit from the highway to enter the city and proceed directly to the venue.
- By Intercity Bus (KTEL): Multiple buses depart daily from the Macedonia Central Intercity Bus Station in Thessaloniki. The trip takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. You will arrive at the Kozani KTEL station, which is located about 1 km from the city center. From there, the venue is easily accessible by taking a short taxi ride or even walking.
How to Get to the Venue from Athens
- By Car: The most comfortable option is driving via the Egnatia Odos highway or National Road 3 (Lamia – Grevena – Kozani). The 470 km trip takes 4.5 to 5 hours. Once you reach the area, take the Kozani exit from the highway and navigate toward the city center/venue.
- By Intercity Bus (KTEL): Direct buses depart daily from the Kifissos Central Intercity Bus Station in Athens, with a travel time of 5.5 to 6 hours (check schedules and tickets at ktelkozanis.gr). Upon arriving at the Kozani KTEL station, you will be about 1 km from the city center, and you can reach the venue by taxi or on foot.
- By Plane: Sky Express operates regular 50-minute flights from Athens to Kozani (Filippos Airport). Because the airport is conveniently located just 2 km from the city center, you can easily grab a taxi upon arrival to take you straight to the venue.
Kozani
Kozani is the capital of Western Macedonia, built at an altitude of 710–720 m. between the Vermio, Vourinos, and Pieria mountain ranges, at a distance of 15 km from Lake Polyfytos. It serves as the administrative, commercial, and transportation hub of the region, with approximately 43,000 inhabitants.
The history of the modern city begins in the early 15th century. During the Ottoman rule, merchants from Kozani developed extensive trade relations with European countries Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Netherlands which led to significant economic and cultural prosperity. Despite the occupation, Kozani experienced a prolonged golden age and remained a center of Greek culture in Western Macedonia.
Attractions & Points of Interest
- Koventareios Municipal Library: The second-largest library in Greece after the one in Athens, holding 153,000 volumes, more than 380 manuscripts, 315 codices, and rare editions among them one of the 17 surviving original copies of the Charta of Rigas Feraios.

- Krokos Kozanis (PDO): The region is famous for its authentic krokos (saffron), one of the most valuable spices in the world, carrying a Protected Designation of Origin.

- Architectural Heritage: Kozani and Siatista are renowned for their 18th and 19th century mansions featuring Macedonian architecture, magnificent frescoes, wood carvings, and impressive ceilings, many of which are open to visitors.

- Kozani Carnival (Apokria) & Fanoi: The city celebrates Carnival in a unique way: instead of flying kites, locals release colorful handmade hot-air balloons, while the “Fanoi” neighborhood bonfires are accompanied by dancing and singing in the local dialect.

- Natural Landscape: Alpine valleys, steep slopes, rivers, and the impressive Lake Polyfytos create a stunning backdrop. The region features the largest network of marked trails in Greece, with a total length of 185 km.
